What are Hydrostatin Products?
„Hydrostatin“ are two groups of products with original combinations of chemical substances.
- They represent water solutions of these chemical substances and may be used in bulk in great quantities or in spray and are efficient and non-toxic in both cases
- The products are totally “eco-friendly” – harmless both for the people as well as the natural environment
- One group of “Hydrostatin” (HS, HSC, HA, HM) products is used for efficient suppression of all forms of dust – from the type that is easily to medium water wettable to the type that is totally water unwettable (such as, for example, lignite coal dust, etc.)
- Treatment of dust on belt conveyers and other forms of open bulk transport with this group of products prevents its dissemination into the environment or atmosphere and thereby its pollution.
- The second group of ”Hydrostatin” products (HSI of various concentrations) are used to quench, localize and prevent “A” class fires, above all forest fires, as well as for industrial, deep, structural fire-prevention impregnation of wood and wood products as well as all types of cardboard
- “Hydrostatin” products are odorless and stable in all temperatures and all climates
- Extinguishes fire quickly and efficiently. By deep and structural fire-prevention impregnation of wood and wood products, cardboard etc. they prevent its combustion and open flame burning, provides long-lasting suppression of all forms of dust

About HYDROSTATIN HS
Hydrostatin HS is an original combination of chemical substances with the capacity of retaining moisture level after application on the surface and thereby establishing a dynamic balance between evaporation and absorption of moisture from the air.
Hydrostatin HS is effective over a longer time period which eliminates the need for continuous water spraying and sprinkling of dusty surfaces. After one application of the Hydrostatin HS products the ground becomes and remains damp over a long period of time, loose without appearance of crust or mud. The air remains clean even with the strongest winds or storms. Special additives for absorption enable Hydrostatin HS products to damp even the particles that are difficult to damp and can be applied to a great number of powdered material and grounds.

- open pit mines
- industrial, earth and macadam roads
- ash and all other powdered material landfills

About HYDROSTATIN HA
Hydrostatin HA is an original combination of chemical substances. It is a water solution of chemical substances that is applied by spraying or sprinkling on the surface of powdered material, and after evaporation of excess water, leaves a permanent and resistant to all climatic conditions solid, elastic and water permeable skin, fully preventing wind erosion at all wind speeds. Depending on the applied quantity, a 0.5 to 2 cm skin is obtained.
At the moment of application Hydrostatin HA binds the powdered material particles in large agglomerates, and during the binding and solidification (2 to 12 hours) binds the agglomerates into a solid net. A solid, but highly porous skin is obtained as a final outcome on the surface of the powdered material, which fully covers the lower levels of the dry material, and thereby completely suppresses rising of the dust from the treated surfaces at any wind speeds. The water penetrates without obstacles and quickly through the skin into the lower levels of loose ash. Not even permanent flooding with water decreases the hardness of the skin, which, either damp or dry, can simply be cut, drilled or treated and prepared for possible planned landscaping of the landfill.
Hydrostatin HA is used as a highly efficient means for the control of all types of dust. There is no need for additional treatment of dusty grounds and surfaces with water or some other agent, even at hottest and driest weather. It is used particularly for application on large surfaces of powdered material which are not walked on and no mechanization passes over it.

About HYDROSTATIN HSC
Hydrostatin HSC is an original combination of chemical substances used as a highly efficient agent for suppression of dust hard to wet, above all coal dust.
It instantaneously eliminates the electrostatic charge of each particle and thus eliminates the surface tension of these particles which are then, quickly and efficiently, “brought down” to the ground where they stay bound for a long time and resistant to relifting into the environment or atmosphere.
Hydrostatin HSC is highly suitable for mass implementation in coal mines, in open pit mining and underground exploitation in all phases of the coal production process: excavation in open pit mines or underground mines, unloading, transportation on belt conveyers or other open type transportation, transshipment and unloading, drying and sorting.
- This is one of the most efficient ways of solving the problem of dissipation of various types of dust, coal dust above all.
About HYDROSTATIN HM
Hydrostatin HM is an original combination of chemical substances which mixed with ash and water, after evaporation of excess water, can form a solid and porous structure. While in a running phase, the Hydrostatin HM, ash and water mixture has an excellent surface spreading ability, and due to quick binding (10 – 15 minutes), the coating follows the ground configuration ideally.
Maximum hardness is achieved after approximately three days of drying in dry weather. Wetting the crust before complete drying does not affect the quality but only prolongs the drying and hardness time.
During the hardening and excess water evaporation process, a chemical transformation is taking place in the Hydrostatin HM product. A solid net is formed which binds the ash particles. The kinetic hardening energy accompanies the excess water evaporation kinetic energy. Depending on the formed crust layer depth (1 cm or more), the crust is characterized by resistance to various chemical impacts: the thinnest coating prevents wind erosion of the ash; it is possible to walk on the deeper crust (3-4 cm); light machinery can cross across the surface having an 8 cm crust. In addition to mechanical hardness, the main characteristics of the crust obtained with the use of Hydrostatin HM product is outstanding porosity, dry matter density 0.9 g/cm3, resistance to all atmospheric changes. The crust can be soaked with water for an unlimited time period without loss of any quality or characteristics.

About HYDROSTATIN HSI-20
Why is Hydrostatin more efficient than CO², foam, water or similar agents?
Hydrostatin HSI-20 is our original product that represents a water solution of several chemical substances that enable deep, structural fire-prevention impregnation of wood and wood products and some other natural materials (cardboard, cotton, wool, flax, cement, gypsum etc.).
Deep, structural fire prevention impregnation of the subject materials is obtained by the active substances penetrating the entire structure and taking up the space of air (oxygen) so that its effect is not just superficial but also deep.
The retarding effect in the combustion of materials treated with Hydrostatin HSl-20 is based on two effects:
- the introduced heat that could cause combustion of material is used primarily for transforming the chemically bound water into gaseous state, and
- water evaporation significantly decelerates the flow of water to the material surface.
The result of these processes is such that the material caught up in flames does not burn.
Hydrostatin HSI-20 has several advantages compared to other fire extinguishing agents (CO₂, foam and water). Its primary use is in extinguishing class “A” fires, localizing the existing fires, namely, preventing its further spreading as well as preventing of bursting out of fire which leads to forming of a fire safety zone. Treatment of natural materials such as sawdust, the so called wooden “chips” and remains of numerous agricultures (e.g. wheat and other grains as well as industrial cultures after harvest and picking) may be used for efficient fighting against class “B” fire (fires from oil and oil derivatives, alcohol as well as fire from numerous chemical products), and at the same time as a component in the production of some types of heat insulation plates.

Is Hydrostatin cost-effective?
Hydrostatin HSI is at least 50% less expensive than the other agents. A significantly smaller quantity is used in fire extinguishing than with the other fire extinguishing agents because, among other things, it extinguishes the fires faster and more efficiently. By using Hydrostatin HSI for prevention of fire it prevents its outburst and cause major or smaller substantive damages and thus also protects people and animals.
For the surfaces prone to fire it is necessary to treat them, in order to prevent its outburst, with Hydrostatin HSI by applying 2 l/m². Furthermore, the mentioned quantity is required in creating a tampon zone in order to prevent further spreading of an ongoing fire. The required quantity of Hydrostatin HSI depends on the type and density of vegetation.
Fire extinguishing: CO²
Carbon dioxide extinguishes flame, and some fire extinguishing units, particularly those intended for electrical fires, contain pressurized carbon dioxide. A carbon dioxide unit acts well with small combustible liquids and electrical fires, but not with the usual combustible materials because it is too dry. Carbon dioxide is also used widely as an extinguishing agent in fixed fire protection systems for local use in specific hazards and totally flooded protected areas (Code 12 of the National Association for Fire Protection). The standard International Maritime Organizations also recognize carbon dioxide systems for fire protection on boats and engine rooms. The carbon dioxide based fire protection systems are related to several cases of death because they do not support life in concentrations used for fire extinguishing (about 40%). Our position on CO₂ systems – carbon dioxide as fire fighting agent: Risk test; USEPA has identified 51 incidents between 1975 and the date of report, in which 72 cases of death were caused and 45 injuries. CO2 is toxic in larger concentrations: 1% (10.000 ppm) and some people suffer from weakness because of it. Concentrations from 7% to 10% cause vertigo, headaches, visual and audio disturbances and fainting within couple of minutes to one hour time.
Protein foams – Protein foams contain natural protein as agents that foam. Contrary to other synthetic foams, the protein foams are biodegradable. FFFP (fluoro-protein that forms a film) is better in cases where the burning fuel can form deeper wells; AR-AFFF (fluoro-protein that forms a film resistance to alcohol) is adequate for burning alcohols. The greatest flexibility is achieved with AR-AFFF or AR-FFFP. AR-AFFF must be used in areas where the gasoline is mixed with oxygenates, since alcohols prevent forming of a film between FFFP foam and gasoline and dissolve the foam, whereby FFFP foam becomes practically unusable.
To what extent is the treated area
protected from fire?
The areas covered with a group of Hydrostatin products (HS, HA, HSC, HM) are protected over a longer period of time, depending on the climatic conditions of the treated area. In areas where rain rarely falls and periods of drought prevail, for example Africa, Australia, some areas of USA (California, Arizona etc.) the fire protection can last several years. Where the rains are more frequent and heavy, the protection lasts from one to two seasons. If the treated area is covered with peat, such as Russia, for example, the treated area is protected from occurrence of the so called deep smoldering fires for at least 5 years. Namely, Hydrostatin HSI penetrates quickly into the deeper layers of peat, to the fire epicenter, extinguishes these fires, and at the same time performs fire-protection impregnation of the peat. This way it prevents the appearance of so called residual (subsequent) fires.
It extinguishes class “A” fires much faster and more efficiently than water, whereas other agents used for extinguishing these fires are less efficient and from environmental aspect environmentally inacceptable.
Hydrostatin HSI is the most efficient fire extinguishing agent for rubber which, otherwise, represents one of the most difficult fires to extinguish. One of the very important things about this agent is that it is one of the rare agents that can quickly and efficiently extinguish fires caused by lignite coal dust, especially at the facilities for processing coal (sorting and drying facilities).
Hydrostatin is the sole agent for prevention of dissemination and suppression of lignite coal dust. Once it is “brought down” the coal dust remains bound to the ground to which it fell without raising again into the air. This prevents “gusts” of coal dust which, otherwise, is the most frequent cause of fires in open pit mines and explosions if there exists a certain concentration of methane gas.
